“In April 2024, the European Union hosted the eighth conference on ‘Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region’ at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels. During the conference, the European Union expressed its continued commitment to the Syrian people after more than thirteen years of conflict. Efforts were intensified to listen to Syrian voices and seek a sustainable peaceful solution by UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
As usual, the Zoom in organization, represented by its Executive Director Mr Mustafa kentar,
participated in the conference and in some side events held on the sidelines. The organization contributed to proposing several recommendations and participated in two dialogue sessions related to the implementation of Resolution 2254 and early recovery programs.
This conference provided an opportunity for side meetings with representatives of Syrian and international organizations to discuss cooperation opportunities, business development, and the challenges faced by civil society organizations in Syria and neighbouring countries.
It’s commendable that the European Union continues to engage in efforts to support Syria and the region, especially considering the prolonged conflict. Such conferences play a crucial role in fostering dialogue and finding peaceful solutions.
